A river drifting beyond time,<\/p>\n
On the shore, grass plucks a glass-like chime.<\/p>\n
Sometimes the boat hauls my weary body,<\/p>\n
or perhaps I push its wandering shape.<\/p>\n
The Milky Way spills stars from trees,<\/p>\n
Into the waves with silver gleam.<\/p>\n
The oar stirs the cosmos\u2019 azure and the water\u2019s deep blue,<\/p>\n
Then dips\u00a0in\u00a0dye from dreams\u00a0I knew.<\/p>\n
Even windless, it lifts the hem of a skirt.<\/p>\n
But the system won\u2019t allow me to drift away,<\/p>\n
And hurls a storm before the day.<\/p>\n
Inky clouds roll\u2014another crime,<\/p>\n
Hoofbeat rain, drums of incantation,<\/p>\n
Swirling willow smoke,\u00a0beneath\u00a0nightmare sky.<\/p>\n
The sail is torn, and the vessel dies.<\/p>\n
And I, so light, discard\u00a0all\u00a0weight.<\/p>\n
Fall gently into the water\u2019s state.<\/p>\n
I melt\u2014<\/p>\n
to be the river\u2019s eye<\/p>\n
